Lucas

Hey Bridge The Gap listeners, Josh and Lucas here with a very cool episode for our Contributor Wednesday series. We spoke with Kathryn Wyatt, she's Divisional Vice President of PEAK Senior Living by Functional Pathways. What an incredible partner to the platform for all of our listeners out there that have enjoyed our Contributor Wednesday series. This is an entity that has come alongside of us to help power this sort of information. That's we're bringing to you here on the Bridge The Gap network, explain to some of our newer listeners, what Contributor Wednesdays actually is.

Josh

So Contributor Wednesday is a rotating group of influential thought leaders in our space. Some of them are even viral if you see them on LinkedIn. So to have them commit six months of providing valuable insight and content for our listeners to inform, educate, and help them influence in their unique workplaces. That's what we do on the Wednesday show.

Lucas

That’s right. And you know what, there's only so much that you and I can do. And trust me, it's limited.

Josh 1:03

Very limited.

Lucas 1:05

To bring on these special influencers that have their own standing in the marketplace, their own unique experiences that they're taking time to bring that education and influence and content to the network is really an awesome thing. And so huge thank you to PEAK Senior Living by Functional Pathways. And we have a great conversation with Kathryn Wyatt. We're going to bring to you right now. Welcome to Bridge the Gap podcast, the senior living podcast with Josh and Lucas. A very exciting discussion on. We wanna welcome Kathryn Wyatt. She's the Divisional Vice President of PEAK Senior Living by Functional Pathways. Welcome to the show!

Kathryn 01:42

Thank you so much. Thank you for having me!

Lucas 01:45

Kathryn, it is an honor to be talking with you and we first off wanna just thank you for PEAK's support of the Bridge the Gap Network. You guys are big proponents of educating people and supporting platforms that really do help empower and encourage and bring forth, you know, positive outcomes in the senior living industry. And so you guys are the Contributor Wednesday sponsors, which is an awesome content and educational platform where we bring in influencers that are in the industry to come in and give their thoughts and ideas to help educate our industry. So thank you! And so, as we transition into building that relationship and explaining to people, talk to us about what PEAK's mission and vision is and the type of products and services that you guys are bringing to the marketplace.

Kathryn 02:38

Sure. So PEAK Senior Living is our division of Functional Pathways. We provide therapy rehabilitation for assisted living communities and independent living communities and continuing care communities. You know, what makes PEAK unique is not only do we provide the PT, OT and speech therapy to our residents, we also have a robust wellness program that we are able to integrate into the community, as well as an elevated activities program. We have developed an offering that incorporates activities into the continuum of care that supports therapy and wellness. And it is just, it's a great benefit for residents and you can sort of think of it as you know, we're their health liaison type of concept. We do not want any holes in our care. You know, we want to make sure that we are with the residents through their journey, really partnering with our communities.

Josh

Kathryn, one of the things that people may not know because PEAK is a new identity, a new brand, but Functional Pathways, you guys have been committed to senior living for quite some time. I've seen your programs in the communities, but this marks a whole new strategy and investment into senior living, not only in investing in the Contributor Wednesday show, but investing in an identity for this program specifically for senior living. How long have you actually been doing this type of programming? Because I know the programming itself is not really new, is that correct?

Kathryn 04:34

That's correct. Yeah. Josh, to your point Functional Pathways has been in business over 26 years. You know, we're in 22 states. We have over 2,500 therapists. I mean, we have a long track record of serving the community, the senior living population, and partnering with clients. We, you know, it's been about eight years that we've been serving residents in the assisted living and CCRC communities. And as we have rebranded our division and our offering that's where we really saw that the wellness component and the activities component is critical to our residents who are aging in place. What we thought about when we rebranded and chose PEAK is that we want all residents to be at their peak performance. And that may be, we need to elevate their mobility. It may be that they are performing right where they want to be, and we need to find those meaningful points in their life to connect with them and engage with them. We want to engage our partners so that they are at their peak performance and our employees. I mean, this is such a critical time in our community now and in the industry post-pandemic. So that's probably a whole podcast in and of itself, but there are so many wonderful things that has come out of the pandemic that I see the focus on the connection and engagement. And the relationship between partners and residents.

Josh

Tell us a little bit as our listeners are maybe just hearing about this for the first time, they may have known about Functional Pathways, but just now hearing about the emphasis specifically into senior living independent list, living the assisted living centers and are curious about that. How can someone connect with your team most appropriately?

Kathryn 06:46

So they can contact our division through the website: fprehab.com.

Josh 06:52

Perfect. Well, we know that our listeners are very grateful for what you guys have been able to do with helping us provide extra content to the industry. We actually just today at a conference had a listener stop by and tell us that they listened to the contributor series every week and were telling us how much they had learned. And so thank you what our listeners need to know is that by you guys at PEAK are investing in that's furthering our industry, furthering their information and education that we can provide to them as we bring in these contributors every six months to provide this high value contribution to the space. So thank you guys for doing that! We look forward to connecting our audience to you directly and your website so that if listeners want to get connected with you, they can do that.

Kathryn
